School Nurse RN

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to support student health across multiple K-12 schools. This full-time, itinerant position travels to assigned schools throughout the week and provides direct nursing care, guidance to school health staff, and coordination of student health services.

The ideal candidate has school nursing or pediatric nursing experience and the skills to serve in a lead nurse capacity.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to students, including assessment, first aid, medication administration, and support for chronic health conditions.

• Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate follow-up care as needed.

• Develop and maintain individualized student health plans.

• Support and guide school nurses and other designated health staff.

• Collaborate with families, school staff, administrators, and healthcare providers to meet student health needs.

• Maintain accurate, confidential health records and follow applicable policies and nursing standards.

• Support health screenings, staff training, and consistent health practices across assigned schools.

• Travel among assigned K-12 schools throughout the week.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.

• Experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing.

• Ability to provide clinical leadership, mentor staff, and coordinate care across multiple schools.

• Strong assessment, communication, organization, and decision-making skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.

• Current CPR/BLS certification.

• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between schools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous lead nurse, supervisory, or nursing coordination experience.

• Experience supporting students with complex medical needs.

• Familiarity with K-12 school health procedures and individualized health planning.

Schedule: Full-time; assigned to multiple schools during the week.
